Reflection: Peace rarely begins when both people feel equally ready. Often, someone
must make the first move without knowing how the other person will respond. Paul does

not say you can control every relationship or guarantee reconciliation. He says that, as
far as it depends on you, you should pursue peace. That may require a conversation
you postponed, an apology without excuses, or a willingness to listen before defending
yourself. It may begin quietly by praying God’s blessing over someone whose memory
still produces anger. Blessing does not excuse what happened, instantly restore trust, or
require you to remain in an unsafe situation. It releases your desire to repay hurt with
hurt. You are responsible for your obedience, not another person’s reaction. Before this
day ends, identify the next righteous step within your control. Peace may not be
completed today, but through Christ, its pursuit can begin with you this week.
Application Question: In which strained relationship have you focused on the other
person’s responsibility, and what is the next righteous step that depends on you?
