Reflection: Some questions come from a sincere desire to understand. Others are easier to ask when the answer might require a change. Peter describes people who mocked the promise of Christ's return while following their own desires. Their problem wasn't simply that the future was hard to imagine. They were unwilling to take God's Word seriously. That gives you an important question to consider: where might your preferences be shaping what you're willing to believe? Maybe you've read a command to forgive, but holding on to resentment feels safer. Maybe God's call to generosity seems inconvenient when money feels tight. You don't need to pretend every difficult passage is easy. God welcomes an honest search for understanding. But bring Him an open heart alongside your questions. Today, notice one place where Scripture challenges your plans. Instead of explaining it away, ask what faithful obedience could look like in that specific place.
Application Question: Where might a personal preference be making it difficult for you to receive or obey God’s Word?
