Discovery Cove Children’s Ministry Volunteer Opportunities

There is no greater privilege than helping a child discover the love of Jesus. In Discovery Cove Children's Ministry, our volunteers create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where children can grow in their faith, build lasting friendships, and experience God's love each week. Whether you enjoy teaching, leading games, greeting families, helping behind the scenes, or simply building relationships with children, there is a place for you to serve. We provide curriculum, and ongoing support—you simply bring a willing heart. Join us as we partner with families to help the next generation know God, love Him, serve Him, worship Him, and grow with Him in a lifelong relationship.

We ask our Sunday morning volunteers to commit to a one year schedule from September - August, serving every other month. At times, we do have opportunities become available mid year.

It’s important to us that our volunteers have the opportunity to attend and engage in their own Sunday School class in order to foster their own continued spiritual growth.

Our Wednesday evening volunteers commit to a weekly or monthly schedule from September - April.

In order to serve in our Children’s Ministry, we ask that you have been a faithful attender of Antrim Brethren in Christ church for 6 months and that you’ve completed all necessary background checks and clearances.

If you would like to serve with children from birth through 3 years old, please contact Brooke Custer at bcuster@antrimbic.net.

If you are interested in serving with children in Pre K - 5th grade, please complete a Volunteer Application. Our currently opportunities are listed below. If you have questions about serving, you may contact Karen Gibble at 717-375-4658 ext 114 or via email at kgibble@antrimbic.net

Sunday Mornings

Sunday School Teacher

Our Sunday School Teachers create a classroom where children feel safe, loved, and welcomed. Through faithful teaching, meaningful relationships, and Christ-like example, teachers create an engaging environment where children can discover God's truth and apply it to their everyday lives. Teachers prepare the weekly lesson in advance and present it in an engaging, age-appropriate, and biblically accurate manner. We ask that our teachers arrive 20 minutes before the service to ensure their classroom and lesson are prepared for the children to arrive; and that they stay in the classroom until the children have been safely picked up by a parent or guardian.

Wednesday Evenings

Large Group Teacher

The large group leader will teach the Wednesday evening Bible lesson to three age groups. The elementary curriculum has one lesson and the large group teacher will present it in an age appropriate manner to two groups:  1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade and 4th & 5th grade. The Pre K and KIndergarten class are using a different curriculum from the same publisher, and we would like to have the Bible lesson presented to both classes together in order to have this age group follow the same format as the older children.   Our goal is for an engaging, Christ-centered large group experience that introduces the week's biblical truth and prepares children for Small Group discussion.

Small Group Leader

The primary responsibility of the Small Group Leader role is to build relationships with children during Wednesday evening clubs while helping them understand and apply God's Word in an age-appropriate way. Throughout the evening, they will lead the children to their Large Group Teaching and Games rotations according to a predetermined schedule. They will help children stay engaged during both activities and aid in maintaining an appropriate environment (respectful & attentive during the Teaching and fun & safe during Games). During small groups, they will lead the children in Bible lesson application, Bible memorization, and life skill activities. And, of course, snack!

Welcome Desk Team Member

The Welcome Desk Team Member creates a warm and welcoming first impression while ensuring a safe and secure check in process for our children. They arrive ½ hour before service starts to ensure the check in system is up and running; and aid in troubleshooting issues, as needed. They function as the main point of contact for the leaders and children if assistance is needed. As children are leaving, they send them off with a lollipop and a smile. And most importantly, make sure the children know how happy we were to have them join us.
