Reflection: The answer to a destructive appetite is not simply trying harder to want nothing. You were made to desire, so starving one appetite must be paired with feeding something better. If greed is growing, practice generosity. If anger is growing, practice patience. If lust is growing, practice purity. If self-centeredness is growing, serve someone who cannot repay you. If spiritual apathy is growing, create space to be with Jesus. This is not willpower Christianity. You are not changing so God will love you. In Christ, you already have a new Master, and His Spirit is at work within you. Grace gives you what you need; growth puts it to work. So name what needs to be starved, then choose what you will feed instead. Your life is being shaped one choice at a time. Today, take one concrete step in the direction you want your heart to learn to follow.
Application Question: What will you intentionally starve this week, and what Christ-centered practice will you feed in its place?
