Reflection:
Ruth begins with famine in Bethlehem, the “house of bread.” That irony matters. The place that should have felt full became empty, and Naomi’s family left searching for survival. You may know that feeling. Sometimes the places that once felt safe, steady, or fruitful become painful reminders of what is missing. When that happens, it is easy to assume God has stepped away. But Ruth reminds you that empty seasons are not proof of God’s absence. They are often places where your vision is limited by pain. Grief can become fog. It changes what you can see, but it does not change what is true. The road is still there. God’s character is still steady. His promises are still real. You do not have to pretend the famine is not painful. But you also do not have to let the famine tell you who God is today. Even now. Trust.

Application Question:
Where has emptiness or disappointment started shaping what you believe about God, and what truth from His Word do you need to hold onto today?
