Reflection: A seat in a church service can create connection while leaving you
uninvolved. Paul describes something active: a faith that remains alive, serves the Lord,
endures hardship, and stays constant in prayer. You were never meant to watch a few
people carry the ministry of the church. God has given you experiences, abilities,
compassion, and opportunities that someone else needs. Your contribution may be
public, or it may happen quietly where few notice. Either way, serving turns church from
a place you attend into a family whose life you help carry. This does not mean saying
yes to every request or exhausting yourself to prove your faithfulness. It means listening
when God draws your attention to a need and responding with obedience. Prayer keeps
that service rooted in Christ instead of guilt. Ask God where He has placed you to
contribute, and remain open when the answer interrupts your comfort.
Application Question: What need has God repeatedly brought to your attention, and
what might obedience look like if you stopped assuming someone else would meet it?
