Reflection: Peter’s words “make every effort” can sound like a demand to prove yourself. But notice what comes first: God has already given you what you need. Your effort is a response to grace, not a payment for it. You do not obey so God will finally accept you; you obey because, in Christ, you have been welcomed and are being changed. That difference matters when you fail. Shame says, “Hide until you do better.” Grace invites you to come honestly to God, receive forgiveness, and take the next faithful step. Maybe that step is telling the truth, putting your phone away, or asking someone to pray with you. You are not responsible for producing transformation by yourself. You are responsible to respond to the Spirit’s work today. Where might a small act of obedience become gratitude made visible? His grace gives your effort a foundation, not a finish line today.

Application Question: What is one concrete act of obedience you can offer this week as gratitude for grace rather than an attempt to earn God’s love?
