Reflection:
Naomi’s grief was not imaginary. She buried her husband and both sons. Her sorrow had names, faces, and memories attached to it. Your grief does too. God never asks you to treat real pain like it is small. But pain becomes dangerous when it becomes the lens through which you interpret everything about God. Naomi could only see graves, so she began to believe the Lord was against her. You may not say that out loud, but maybe loss has whispered similar things to you. “God forgot me.” “God is kinder to others.” “God is done with me.” Those thoughts can feel convincing when your heart is tired. Bring them into the light. Let Scripture, not sorrow, define God’s character. Jesus shows you a God who enters suffering, carries grief, and gives Himself for you. Your pain is real, but it does not get the final word over Him.
Application Question:
What false conclusion has pain tempted you to believe about God, and what truth about His character do you need to speak back to that lie?
