Reflection: Genuine love begins where pretending ends. You can smile, shake a hand,
and say everything is fine while hoping no one asks another question. Yet God did not
place you in His family so you could remain hidden behind a mask. He invites you to be
known and to know others with honesty and grace. That does not mean telling everyone
everything. It means allowing one trustworthy believer to see what is happening in your
heart. Genuine love also changes how you look at others. Instead of deciding who
deserves attention, you begin noticing the value God has placed in them. You listen
longer. You speak kindly. You celebrate their gifts without needing attention for yourself.
The church becomes more than a friendly gathering when you stop performing and
begin sharing your real life. Today, ask God for courage to take one small step toward
being honestly known and loved.
Application Question: What part of your life are you working hardest to keep hidden,
and who is one trustworthy believer you could invite into it?
