Reflection:
Paul’s greeting in Romans 16 is easy to pass over, but it carries a beautiful reminder: motherhood is bigger than biology. Rufus’s mother had become a mother to Paul as well. Her influence reached beyond her own household into the family of God. You may have had a woman like that in your life, someone who stepped into a gap, encouraged you, corrected you, prayed for you, or loved you when she didn’t have to. Or maybe God is inviting you to become that kind of person for someone else. Spiritual motherhood is not about a title. It is about presence, nurture, wisdom, and love. The church needs women who will notice the lonely, encourage the weary, and speak life to the next generation. Ask God to show you where motherly love has shaped you, and where He may be calling you to offer it this week with courage today.
Application Question:
Who has shown you motherly love in a way that helped you see God’s care more clearly?
