Reflection: You may picture freedom as getting to do whatever you want. No correction. No uncomfortable conversation. No one asking what you watched, how you spent the money, or why you keep nursing that resentment.

Jesus describes a problem: sin becomes a master. What you defend as your choice can begin making choices for you. You hide it, plan around it, and become angry when someone threatens it. Permission has not made you free.

The Son offers something better. You can belong to him and learn to live without protecting what harms you. His words expose your captivity because he intends to free you.

Name one habit you have been calling harmless. Notice the excuses you reach for. Then bring both the habit and the excuses to Jesus. You do not need a teaching that makes your chains sound comfortable. You need the Savior who can break their hold on you.

Application Question: Where have you confused freedom with permission, and what would trusting Jesus require you to surrender there?
