Reflection: Peter’s list is painfully practical: malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander. These are not just “out there” sins. They show up in kitchens, staff meetings, text threads, church hallways, and family conversations. Peter says to put them away because they do not fit who you are anymore. In Christ, you are not trying to become clean by pretending the dirty clothes are gone. You are invited to take them off. That may mean confessing resentment instead of feeding it. It may mean telling the truth instead of managing your image. It may mean celebrating someone else’s blessing without secretly comparing. It may mean refusing to repeat the story that makes you feel important. God is not asking you to dress up the old self. He is teaching you to live from the new identity He has given you. Today, pay attention to what no longer fits. Put them away quickly.
Application Question: Which attitude, word pattern, or relational habit from Peter’s list most needs to be put away in your life right now?
