Reflection: Peter tells you to conduct yourself with fear during your exile, but this is not panic before an angry God. It is reverence before a holy Father. You are deeply loved, and you are also deeply accountable. Both are true. The cross teaches you the weight of sin and the wonder of grace at the same time. You were not ransomed with silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ. That means sin is never small. It is the old road Jesus died to rescue you from. When temptation looks harmless, remember the price paid to free you. Reverent fear does not push you away from God; it draws you nearer with humble seriousness. You do not have to pretend sin is no big deal to enjoy grace. Grace is bigger than sin, and grace teaches you to stop making peace with the emptiness Jesus overcame for you.
